How Does Chemical Peel Work?
Chemical peels are effective in reducing acne, acne scars and different types of hyperpigmentation. They work by reducing the pH levels in your skin. This loosens up the dead skin cells aiding the chemical peel formulation to exfoliate the skin easily, and stimulate the growth of new skin cells. The damaged layers peel off and you will see a smooth and radiant complexion after you complete the required number of sessions.
Experienced dermatologists will customise the chemical peel formulation based on your concern to give you the best results!
Who Is The Right Candidate For Chemical Peel Treatment?
If you are over 18 and looking for a solution for your acne, scars and any kind of hyperpigmentation, you can opt for chemical peel treatment.
NOTE:
We do not advise chemical peels for pregnant and lactating women or if you have any active skin infections.
Available Types of Chemical Peels In Ahmedabad At Oliva:
Oliva offers several chemical peel treatments suitable to suit the varied needs of all clients. They may prescribe these as solo or combination treatments.
- Acne Control Peel: This helps reduce acne, especially comedones by controlling the skin’s excessive oil production. It contains salicylic acid and is effective on for all skin types. The peel doesn’t require any downtime and you may experience mild dryness. To minimise this, the doctor will recommend a non-comedogenic moisturiser. If you have aspirin allergy, we don’t recommend this peel.
- Brightening Peel Or No Melan Fenol Peel: This helps treat acanthosis nigricans, mild wrinkles, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and melasma. You can enjoy pigmentation and dullness due to premature ageing. The peel is a blend of phenol with plant-based acids like retinoic, ascorbic, salicylic, tricholoroacetic, glycolic phytic and mandelic acids that help exfoliate the skin and rejuvenate it. Your skin may peel off 5-7 days after the session.
- Reviving Peel Or No Melan Felon Peel With Retisis Forte Cream: As the name suggests, it is No Melan Felon Peel but with the addition of retinol to make it more effective. It works to minimise keratosis pilaris and darkened skin and gives you smooth and even skin tone. It is also suitable to treat other body areas. You may experience peeling for 5-7 days on the face and double the number of days for neck and arms.
- Radiance Peel Or SesGlycoK Peel: This peel involves the use of skin lightening agents – glycolic acid and kojic acid to minimse tan and blemishes that results from acne. It rejuvenates the skin and restores youthful glow, and is also effective for sensitive skin. This peel requires zero downtime.
- Skin Rejuvenation Peel: For this peel, dermatologists use glycolic acid, which gently exfoliates and helps regenerate healthy, bright skin. It is effective for tan, superficial acne scars, suntan, spots, melasma and uneven skin tone. You can expect slight redness, flaking and dryness that usually subsides within a few days!
- Dark Circle Peel: This involves the application of lactic acid first, followed by arginine peel with. While the former helps dissolve dead cells, arginine peel helps stimulates collagen production and moisturises skin. It works effectively in the sensitive area under your eyes and helps treat periorbital hyperpigmentation or dark circles. You don’t need any downtime for this peel.
Chemical Peel Treatment Procedure at Oliva Clinic, Ahmedabad
Chemical peel treatment at Oliva involves the following steps:
Pre-Treatment: You will first have an in-depth consultation with one of our dermatologists who will study your skin type to identify your skin concern and determine its cause and severity. Based on this, they will prescribe a chemical peel that suits you. It can be one or a combination of peels along with adjunct procedures, if necessary. This also includes the number of sessions you need at required intervals for the best results. You will also receive a set of instructions before the session for a safe treatment experience, which include:
- Don’t apply any scrubs or home remedies for two days before the procedure.
- Avoid threading, waxing or shaving the target area for a week before the session.
- Avoid makeup on the day of the session.
- Stop the application of night creams or medicated products for 4-6 days before the session.
- Make sure you moisturise your face for three days before the procedure.
During The Treatment:
The session starts with a precautionary patch test after which our therapists will apply petroleum jelly on the target area. They will then apply the chemical peel under medical supervision after covering your eyes with wet cotton. After a few mins, they will neutralise the peel. As the last step, they will apply a cold compress, moisturise your skin and apply sunscreen for protection.
Post-Treatment:
This is a crucial part of the treatment process. After the in-clinic session, you must follow the post-care instructions to see the best results and avoid side effects. These include:
- Clean your face only with water for the first 12 hours. Don’t use a cleanser.
- Avoid strenuous exercises for 24 hours. Too much sweating can disrupt the healing process.
- Don’t apply makeup for 24 hours after the peel.
- Moisturise your skin with the recommended product.
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Apply sunscreen every three hours.
- Don’t try any home remedies and parlour activities for a week after the treatment.
